Is 3D4D ultrasound safe for my baby?

Ultrasound is a safe and essential tool in prenatal care, as it uses sound waves rather than radiation. Extensive research has shown no known risks when performed by trained professionals following medical guidelines. It provides critical insights into fetal development and maternal health.  The FDA and World Health Organization both recognize ultrasound as a safe imaging tool when performed by trained professionals.

What is the difference between a diagnostic ultrasound and an elective ultrasound?

Elective ultrasounds do not require an order by a medical provider.  Elective ultrasounds give non-diagnostic opportunities to look at baby and bond with your baby.

Diagnostic ultrasounds are required by OB doctors to medically look at all the anatomy and structures of your baby. *** THIS DOES NOT REPLACE A DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND **

How do I prepare for my elective ultrasound?

It is important to be hydrated for your appointment.  Your bladder should be comfortably full at your appointment time.   A meal or snack 30 minutes prior will help with baby's activity for the scan.

What if I don’t want to find out gender?

Rest assured, if you do not want to know your baby's gender in pregnancy, you can safely enjoy your 3D ultrasound while keeping the gender hidden!

What can I expect to see at different gestational ages during pregnancy?

Between conception and 14 weeks, the baby is transforming into a tiny human. Arms and legs are developing and you can see baby wiggle. We are able to fit the entire baby on the screen at this point. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME TO HAVE A FULL BLADDER.

Between 15-26 weeks, the baby is mostly skin and bones and the facial details aren’t as developed, but we tend to get more of the baby on the screen and you can see more movement.

Between 27-34 weeks, the baby is chubbier in appearance, the face is starting to look more like they’ll look on arrival, and we tend focus on the face or other body parts since the entire baby won’t fit on the screen.

After 35 weeks, 3d ultrasound in pregnancy can be amazing or extremely limited due to the late gestational age.

Can I bring family and friends to my elective ultrasound?

Yes, of course! We know everyone is excited to meet this baby! Just note that I have limited sitting space as I only have one couch. Other guests can come but they may need to stand!

** ALSO PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE IN A SECOND LEVEL ROOM AND THERE IS ONLY STAIR ACCESS. **

Please be aware that you will need to already have an established OB doctor prior to booking an elective ultrasound.

You will be asked to sign a waiver stating that you are under the care of a physician before having an elective 3d 4d ultrasound service with Baby Bliss Ultrasound!

Are these ultrasounds covered by insurance?

No, this is an optional ultrasound for fun! This ultrasound does not look at the anatomy or structures of your baby. This is a chance to enjoy seeing your babys face and have a bonding experience.
